Türkiye or Poland for hotel furniture

Poland and Türkiye answer different sourcing questions. Poland is Europe's volume furniture exporter: second in the world by 2023 export value in the industry chamber OIGPM's own ranking, with one in five IKEA products made there. A hotel programme buys custom casegoods, joinery and upholstery against a drawing set, approved at a model room. From Türkiye that order enters the EU duty-free on an A.TR certificate, and published haulier tables put Gemlik to Germany at 5–7 days by road.

Türkiye vs Poland: Hotel Furniture

Poland exported $15.94 billion of furniture in 2024, by Statistics Poland's Foreign Trade Database, and more than 80 percent of Polish furniture production leaves the country. Those figures describe a real bench, and a particular kind of bench: the largest export segment is bedroom furniture, and one in five IKEA products worldwide is made in a Polish factory. A hotel programme is a different purchase: several hundred rooms of one custom design, built from a drawing set, approved at a model room, delivered against an opening date. This page gives the Polish industry's numbers as its own institutions publish them, then the documents and days that carry a Turkish order to the same site.

What the export ranking measures

The ranking counts everything under customs headings 9401 to 9404 that crosses the Polish border in a year: bedroom programmes for European retail chains, upholstered seating, wooden furniture at IKEA scale. Statistics Poland's registry holds nearly 32,000 manufacturers behind it, and the biggest single flow runs to Germany, with €418 million of the €1.1 billion bedroom segment in 2024, per the February 2025 OIGPM and B+R Studio report. That is volume production for retail programmes, published in checkable form by the institutions that own the data.

A hotel programme asks a factory a different question. A 300-key order is one design, priced from a BOQ, resolved into shop drawings, built once as a model room, and released to production after the sign-off. The casegoods are custom to the operator's standard, the joinery is fitted to the building, and the schedule answers to an opening date. Factories of both kinds exist in both countries; what a buyer compares is which bench is set up for the package in front of him, and what each route adds in documents and days.

What a hotel programme buys from Gemlik

Casegoods and joinery are manufactured in-house: our own machining, veneer press, spray booths and upholstery, in one building on a 5,000 m² production floor in Gemlik, Bursa. Production releases after the model room is signed off. The showroom on the same site is 350 m² and holds 8 model rooms, built and rebuilt against live specifications.

The scope runs past loose furniture. Hotel interiors, turnkey, inside the shell: furniture and joinery manufactured by us; MEP, wet areas, flooring and stone carried on the same contract and executed by subcontracted trades. One order covers the guest room from CNC to installation, and a finish revision moves through one shop. Our work is installed in delivered programmes across Europe, the Gulf and North America; the Marriott in Belgrade took roughly 1,500 pieces on one programme.

The border, in documents

A consignment from Poland to a German site moves inside the single market and clears no customs. A consignment from Türkiye enters the EU duty-free: furniture is industrial goods inside the EU–Türkiye Customs Union, and it travels on an A.TR movement certificate raised per consignment and approved electronically by Turkish customs. The duty this route produces is zero; what remains is a document, and we prepare it at the factory alongside the export packing and the container loading.

One correction worth making early: a buyer or broker who asks for “a EUR.1 for Germany” is asking for the wrong paper. For an EU member state the instrument is the A.TR; EUR.1 belongs to free-trade partners outside the Customs Union. The full document map by destination is on the import requirements page.

The road and the sea, in published numbers

By road, published haulier tables put a truck from Türkiye at 5–7 days door to door to Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, subject to the queue at the Kapıkule border crossing. By sea, ONE's 2024 published NTX sheet gives Gemlik to Felixstowe in 17 days, Antwerp in 18, Rotterdam in 20 and Hamburg in 23. Every transit figure above belongs to the carrier or haulier that published it.

Our own production time is quoted the one way we quote it: a current estimate against the production plan, reported when it moves, with photo reports as the order moves through the floor. What a quoted lead time contains, segment by segment, has its own page.

FAQ

Does hotel furniture from Türkiye pay EU import duty?
No. Furniture is industrial goods inside the EU–Türkiye Customs Union and enters any EU member state duty-free on an A.TR movement certificate. The A.TR proves free circulation, travels with the consignment, and is prepared at the factory alongside the export packing and loading documents.
How long does delivery from Türkiye to Germany take?
Published haulier tables give 5–7 days door to door by road, subject to the Kapıkule border queue. By sea, ONE's 2024 published NTX sheet gives Gemlik to Hamburg in 23 days and Rotterdam in 20. Production time is quoted per order as a current estimate against the production plan, and reported when it moves.
What does Poland's furniture industry mainly export?
Bedroom furniture was the largest Polish export segment in 2024 at €1.1 billion, €418 million of it to Germany, per the February 2025 report by the industry chamber OIGPM and B+R Studio. By IKEA's own account, one in five IKEA products worldwide is made in Poland, including up to half of its wooden furniture.
Can one contract carry more than the loose furniture?
Yes. The scope is the interior inside the shell: casegoods, joinery and upholstery manufactured in Gemlik, with MEP, wet areas, flooring and stone carried on the same contract and executed by subcontracted trades. Structure, civil works and OS&E sit outside it.
Where can the Polish figures be checked?
Three public places: PAIH's sector report The Furniture Sector on paih.gov.pl, the Ministry's trade portal trade.gov.pl, and the OIGPM / B+R Studio Polskie Meble Outlook series. The same habit applied to Turkish suppliers is our vendor qualification guide: registry numbers, association records, and what to ask for.
